Berlie Doherty is a highly regarded and prolific author for children. She has twice won the Carnegie Medal - for Granny Was a Buffer Girl and Dear Nobody - and was Highly Commended for Willa and Old Miss Annie, another Walker title. Her other books include the picture book The Midnight Man and the anthologies Tales of Wonder and Magic and Fairy Tales, which she edited. She has also written a volume of poetry, Walking on Air, as well as a number of plays, and adapted her own books for television and radio.
