Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize several times, Chacour has achieved international recognition. His own story - from his boyhood in a Palestinian Christian family to his work as a priest in the village of Ibillin in Galilee - takes us beyond the headlines and into the homes and communities of Palestinians in Israel, providing a portrait of a people struggling for equality in their ancient homeland. Determined to provide education and opportunity to the young Palestinians in the Galilee region, Chacour battles governmental opposition and builds schools, libraries and youth and community centres. The summer camps he founds are attended by thousands of children of varied religions. Urging the persistent yet peaceful pursuit of justice, he instructs he people never to hate, for "hatred is corruption".
