Summary
First published in the UK in 1958 as "Breaking Point", this novel tells of Westerbork, the transit camp from which Dutch Jews were despatched to Auschwitz. At the heart of the camp system was the desperate competition among victims to buy an extra day's survival at the expense of another's death.
