About John A. Burt

Dr. John A. Burt is an Associate Professor of Biology and Head of the EnvironmentalStudies program at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), where he leads research inthe Marine Biology Laboratory. He is also the co-director of the NYUAD Water ResearchCenter and theArabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences. Burt has published over120scholarly articles and book chapters,primarilyfocused on theunique environmental biologyof the United Arab Emirates and surrounding region.As along-term resident of the UAE, Burt also has a longstanding association with theEmirates Natural History Group, and was awarded the Sheikh Mubarak Al NahyanAward for Natural History of the United Arab Emirates in 2017.
