In a 1996 Music Week poll, THE STONE ROSES came second to Oasis in the 'all-time favourite group' category for people under 30, it is incredible that no biography has ever been written. THE STONE ROSES single-handedly set the blueprint for the resurgence of UK rock 'n' roll in the 1990s. Their uniqueness is marked by Ian Brown's new lazy-style vocals, Reni's fluid funk-tinged, ground-breaking drumming and the guitar genius of John Squire. Combine all this with the fact that this band were from Manchester, wore flared trousers and football tops, a whole new baggy style that had never been seen south of Stoke before - and you've got one of the few bands who could ever truly deserve to be called Great. Their LP The Stone Roses is acknowledged as one of the most important albums of all time.
