The first part is an international directory of 150 opera houses, companies and festivals, listed alphabetically with location maps, seating plans and details of facilities and booking arrangements. The second part gives biographies of the major opera composers and scenarios of over 100 popular operas, highlighting the major arias. F.W.Stockdale is the founder of Pavilion Opera, a touring company which performs in private houses and museums. Martin Dreyer, a singer and musicologist, contributes regularly to Opera magazine.
