Martin Easdown and Linda Sage have established themselves among the most popular local historians of the Folkestone and Hythe area. They have written books on a wide variety of subjects including the local hospital (A Grand Old Lady), disasters (Rain, Wreck and Ruin), pier and seafront (Victoria's Golden Pier) and pubs (Tales From the Tap Room, with Eamonn Rooney). Martin's A Glint in the Sky is recognized as the definitive work on the First World War air raids on Kent. Martin and Linda are both active members of the Folkestone and District Local History Society, and in his role as Archivist for the National Piers Society, Martin is acknowledged as the country's leading authority on the history of the pleasure pier.
