Once Upon a Farm Summary

Once Upon a Farm by Muriel Kingsley

Once upon a time, on the beautiful Island of Jamaica, on the top of the hill, there lived a young farmer. His name was Daniel. He lived with Angela his beautiful wife and their seven-year-old bouncy magical, daughter Lamara. The family also had three curious pets, who were full of beans: James, the little woodpecker with a big appetite. Sarah, the bonny little rabbit who never stops talking and Elijah, the noisy little lion cub who loved to ride his bike fast down the steep, rugged hill.

About Muriel Kingsley

Muriel Kingsley was born in Jamaica in 1943 and moved to England at the age of twenty-six after the death of her parents. Due to a lack of schooling, when she arrived in England she was still unable to write more than a shopping list and had read no more than a few chapters of the Bible. The author's lack of education caused her great sadness and frustration, so while raising her six children she pursued, with enormous determination, the art of mastering reading and writing. At a later date, she also attended adult educational classes to improve her English and in 2007 achieved her dream of publishing her first book, The Two Little Mice and Mary-Ann, followed by Grandma's Ghost Story in 2010 and Emily's Great Adventure in 2013. She has also written a romance, The Widow and the Vicar.
