An Affair Of Honor Summary

An Affair Of Honor by Richard Marius

The final masterpiece by a master of Southern Gothic: an epic tale of love, faith and revenge in post-war Tennessee. Charles Alexander, a young man groomed from birth to be a Baptist minister, witnesses the murders. The killer is Hope Kirby, WWII hero, member of a large mountain clan, who has discovered his wife's infidelity. Although Kirby's code of honour requires that he exact vengence, it won't allow him to kill an innocent bystander, so Charles goes free, promising not to tell what he has seen. But Charles does tell, and we watch fascinated, as a trial, an appeal, and a new terror unleashed on the countryside draw the entire county into action. An Affair of Honour is the story of a crime - a crime with so many repercussions that will take five decades to untangle.
