Summary

Gravesites have always fascinated tourists. Unfortunately, not every cemetery manager is anxious to reveal the resting places of those who've passed on. Author Scott Stanton had to do some real digging to come up with important grave sites, many revealed for the first time.

The Tombstone Tourist Summary

The Tombstone Tourist: Musicians by Scott Stanton

From France's famous Gothic Pere Lachaise Cemetery (final resting place of Chopin and Jim Morrison) to Hollywood's Forest Lawn (home of Andy Gibb and Liberace), Stanton has travelled over a million miles, through 6 countries, 44 states, and 91 airports, to give his readers detailed directions to, and descriptions of, the grave sites. There are more than 250 black-and-white photos showcasing the entertainers and their memorials. THE TOMBSTONE TOURIST includes artists' biographies (including cause of death), locations of their birth places, childhood homes, places of exit, relevant museums, archives and shrines, and tips for recording memorabilia collections. The book stemmed from Stanton's two obsessions - travel and music. The guide is divided into three categories, each arranged alphabetically for easy reference - The Legends, The Best of the Rest and Gone But Not Forgotten (those without a final resting place). So whether you're idol is Jimi Hendrix, Hank Williams, or Janis Joplin, you can get within six feet of them all.
