Emmaus Summary

Emmaus by Stephen Cottrell

Emmaus: The Way of Faith is a course designed to welcome people into the Christian faith and the life of the Church. It aims to involve the whole Church in evangelism, the nurture of new believers and ongoing Christian discipleship.

Growing as a Christian is one section of this material. It includes five short courses to encourage believers toward maturity in key areas of the Christian life:
  • Growing in prayer (4 sessions)
  • Growing in the Scriptures (5 sessions)
  • Being church (4 sessions)
  • Growing in worship - understanding the sacraments (5 sessions)
  • Life, death and Christian hope (3 sessions)
Growing as a Christian is ideal as a follow on from: an enquirers' group; a Nurture or Alpha group; a new Christians' group; a confirmation class. Each session has detailed leaders' notes and fully downloadable (or photocopiable) members' handouts. This completely updated and redesigned second edition also includes a CD-ROM with all the session handout and supplementary handouts as PDF files.

Emmaus Reviews

'Too many people end up with roller coaster experiences of faith because the basic disciplines of their Christian lives are shallow or non-existent. Building directly on the Nurture course, Growing as a Christian helps new Christians lay firm foundations and maturer Christians take a fresh look at familar topics.' -- Felicity Lawson, Emmaus author
