Knitting for Gold Reviews

June/July 2012

Sue McBride grabs the Olympics this summer in London with a collection of 20 different figures to suggest that all is sport. The dolls wear matching outfits and have their own tools. At the end of the book there are even medals to make yourself. All the dolls are made from a base model for a male or a female athlete. The arms and heads are knitted separately, body and legs in one piece, so there is some sewing involved. They used wires to pose the dolls in a sporting attitude. Dolls knitting is obviously not new, but it's still fun to do and can also be a doll gift.

If you're living on this planet (or at least one nearby) you'll have caught all the hype surrounding this summer's Olympics. At Knit Today we're really excited about the event, but even if you feel you've heard for too much about sporting events recently, we'd still urge you to pick up this book. The patterns it contains - for 20 sporting figures- are so much fun to create. And they're quick, too, so you'll be over the finish line before you know it! The male and female dolls are representing their nations in sport such as weight lifting, tennis, white water rafting and lots more, The clothes on each doll are removable, so you can choose to knit a whole collection of dressed characters, or just one with 20 different outfits to change into.
