Val Archer combines her talent for still-life watercolour painting with a love of good food, to depict many kinds of berries on the vine and bush, in pots, baskets and punnets, and in their completed dishes. In and around selected recipes she weaves information about the varieties of berry, their flavours and growing habits, and their place in history and folklore. The recipes encompass every course of a meal, and both the traditional and the contemporary.
