LRCW 6 presents papers deriving from the 6th International Conference on Late Roman Coarse Wares, Cooking Wares and Amphorae in the Mediterranean held at the Parco Archeologico e Paesaggistico della Valle dei Templi, Agrigento, 24-28 May 2017. The volume includes almost 100 papers, subdivided according to the sessions of the conference, which had a particular focus on archaeological evidence from the Mediterranean. Themes comprise sea and land routes, workshops and production centres, and regional contexts (western Mediterranean, eastern Mediterranean, Sicily and the Mediterranean islands).

About Valentina Caminneci (Parco Archeologico e Paesaggistico della Valle dei Templi, Agrigento)

Valentina Caminneci is an archaeology officer at the Parco Archeologico e Paesaggistico della Valle dei Templi, Agrigento. She has carried out research into the archaeological contexts of ancient Agrigentum and its hinterland: public areas, road networks, the acropolis, Roman and early Christian cemeteries, the port, coastal settlements. She has also examined the ancient exploitation of chalk and the conservation of wall paintings; she has also planned heritage pedagogy projects. Her current focus is the transformation of the valley in the modern and contemporary age.

Enrico Giannitrapani is currently an adjunct professor at Palermo University and a member of the archaeological cooperative Arkeos. His scientific interests concern the social and cultural complexity of prehistoric communities of the central Mediterranean, as well as the development of the first forms of social differentiation. He is highly involved in the methodological aspects of the discipline, including the use of digital technologies and the application of infra-site and intra-site GIS systems. He has specialised in landscape archaeology and geoarchaeology, also developing operational and editorial skills in sector publishing (DTP) within archaeology and cultural heritage.

Maria Concetta Parello is an archaeology officer at the Parco Archeologico e Paesaggistico della Valle dei Templi, Agrigento. She has investigated the topographic and urban development of the Greek city, as well as its transformation in the Hellenistic, Roman and Late Antique phases. She has carried out research in rural late Roman, medieval, and post-medieval settlements, which has made it possible to reconstruct the history of the landscape of the western part of the province.

Maria Serena Rizzo is an archaeology officer at the Parco Archeologico e Paesaggistico della Valle dei Templi, Agrigento. She has been mainly involved in the investigation of the Late Antique and medieval landscapes and rural settlements of the Agrigento city and area, including projects to reconstruct the urban landscape as well as studying the relevant material culture. She has overseen the organisation of various archaeological exhibitions, training courses, heritage education activities, and conferences.
