Joyriding the Storm Summary

Joyriding the Storm by Vanessa Kisuule

There is a depth and maturity to her work that is remarkable for such a young poet. The most prevalent commendation from voters in the 2013 Saboteur awards was for her uncanny knack of expressing the inexpressible or as one voter put it, she has the ability to articulate feelings previously considered ineffable; a skill as rare as it is wonderful.

Joyriding the Storm Reviews

'I have heard these poems read by Vanessa at parties and cafes, on boats and in bars and I am so excited I can now hear them again, as many times as I want, because listening once, twice, three times, is just not enough. Her words make the world exciting again.' Hollie McNish; 'Vanessa Kisuule is an explosion wrapped in ribbon. One of the most powerful performers of her generation, watching Kisuule on stage is like witnessing the origins of the universe. If the universe had a filthy mouth. And furious heels' Joelle Taylor, The Poetry Society
