Whilst many feel that Churchill's finest hour was as Britain's premier during the Second World War, William Manchester, in his second volume of Churchill's life, The Caged Lion, show that whilst he came into his own as prime minister, his finest hours were when he stood entirely alone, a political pariah, as he prophesied the outcome of appeasing Hitler's territorial ambitions.
