Taking a problem-orientated approach to the assessment of dementia sufferers as a good basis for effective management, this text aims to help the increasing body of professional and other workers who come into regular contact with dementia sufferers and their carers in the course of their work. It is not a practical manual, but a guide to understanding. It is not a textbook for any professional group, who will have their own language and their own procedures, but is an attempt to give a common understanding to different professions and agencies who work together in solving the problems of dementia.
