Alexander is an elderly eccentric with a sardonic sense of humour. The visits of his niece, Gemma, are his only source of delight. She is secure and outwardly happy with her husband, but she is bored. When Alexander meets David, an out-of-work actor, he determines to corrupt Gemma.
