Part two looks at how different countries developed their own breeds, mainly influenced either by the indigenous type of horse or early imported animals, and bred further for particular working roles or riding styles. Part three illustrates the recreational roles played by horses, from dressage and show jumping, to polo, rodeo and pony trekking. The final part of the book gives an overall picture of the horse, with background information on its physical make up, nutritional needs, stabling and general management requirements, including a chapter on saddlery.
