This book presents a general approach to understanding everyday behaviour and communication, suggesting that we need only be good enough and that we can learn to like ourselves, warts and all. Some of the ideas in this book are to be found in the theory of transactional analysis which explains how and why our personalities develop as they do, we communicate with varying degrees of effectiveness, we behave in a variety of ways to get our needs met, we develop the beliefs we hold.
