Summary

A collection of amusing stories and verse on awkward sheep, potbellied calves, brainless collie-dogs, mart days and wet days where cock-ups are commonplace and hard to hide.

Rural Stew and Country Casserole Summary

Rural Stew and Country Casserole by Henry Brewis

The twenty-three tracks on this CD take a light-hearted look at such unsung heroes as the shepherd, the council man who swept the roads and Shep the very non-PC farmer. The wit is slightly more acerbic when it comes to the bank manager ('who stole m' fags'), the townie, the hunt and the vicar. This recording was made in the mid-1980s when Henry Brewis was at the height of his powers. It was released as a cassette at that time, but has been unavailable for ten years.

About Henry Brewis

Henry Brewis wrote a dozen books of cartoons, verse and stories based on his experience as a farmer in Northumberland. These have sold over a quarter of a million copies and maintain their popularity. Henry Brewis died in 2000.
