Rover and Other Cats Summary

Rover and Other Cats by Hugh Leonard

This is an account of the seven cats that have played such a big part in Hugh Leonard's life - from Honey, bought for 12 guineas at the Regent Pet Stores in Camden Town, through to the misnamed Rover and Dubh, both now sadly passed away. There are stories of wading drunkenly into the pond on Barnes Common, watched disdainfully by a cat who then took up home in the Leonard household, and of smuggling cats nervously into Belfast and Dublin against all quarantine regulations when the Leonards moved back to Ireland. This is really an addendum to Leonard's two volumes of autobiography, "Home Before Night" and "Out After Dark".
