Through A Glass Darkly Summary

Through A Glass Darkly by Ingmar Bergman

A poignant and sensuous stage adaptation of the 1961 Oscar-winning film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman.

Karin is a young wife, an older sister and an only daughter. In her kaleidoscopic internal world the boundaries between different realities blur and shift.

Karin's family go on their annual holiday together. On a bleak, beautiful island, her husband, father and brother struggle over the best way to help her. As events spiral out of control, Karin realises that she must take command of her own destiny.

This is the only adaptation of Through a Glass Darkly, and was personally approved by Bergman. It was first performed at the Almeida Theatre, London, in 2010, with Ruth Wilson as Karin.
