JOHN PILLING is well-known for his many books and essays on Beckett, Samuel Beckett (1976), Frescoes of the Skull, with James Knowlson (1979), Beckett Before Godot (1997), A Companion to 'Dream of Fair to Middling Women' (2004), among others. He is also a past editor of the Journal of Beckett Studies and Director of The Beckett International Foundation (1993-2004).
