Summary

One of the most successful superstars in rock history, there's always been a sense of mystery around Sting. He's something of an enigma and often perceived to be po-faced, a do-gooder and downright less fun than a lot of his peers. Many biographers have tried to crack the facade and all have failed. Until now.

Sting and I Summary

Sting and I by James Berryman

One of the most successful artists in rock history, Sting is often perceived as an intensely private, overly serious do-gooder. Many biographers have tried to get beyond the image, but Jim Berryman is the only one to have written about Sting from the perspective of a forty-year friendship. Here, he reveals the roots of Sting's incredible climb to international fame and fortune. Reaching back into the early 1960s, when Sting and Jim were schoolboys, Jim shows a side to the singer that has never been seen before.

About James Berryman

James Berryman is 48, single and lives in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where he was born and raised. Educated at St Cuthbert's Grammar School, where he first met Sting, he has had many jobs, including being a bookie and entrepreneur. This is his first book.

Table of Contents

One of the most successful superstars in rock history, there's always been a sense of mystery around Sting. He's something of an enigma and often perceived to be po-faced, a do-gooder and downright less fun than a lot of his peers. Many biographers have tried to crack the facade and all have failed. Until now. James Berryman was Sting's friend from the day the two of them started school, back when Sting was plain old Gordon Sumner. And Jim remembers the real Sting - a fellow native of Newcastle, down to earth, witty, cynical and mischievous. Their friendship endures to this day, more than three decades after they first met and this fully-authorised memoir of their time together will be a riveting revelation for Sting's fans around the world.
