Using the traditional shapes and symbols of Christmas, such as hearts, stars and snowflakes, this book offers more than 40 needlework projects which include wallhangings, tree decorations, bird trees, Christmas stockings, cards and a delicate snowflake mobile. Many of the projects require only basic needle skills, while a few involve advanced techniques such as free machine embroidery. Patchwork, crochet, counted thread and soft sculpture are among the many techniques, covering a range of tastes and levels of experience. The materials used are as varied as the techniques, and include silk and velvet, felt and hessian, string and gold thread.
