This pack is designed to make the I Was There: Vikings book accessible for use in the classroom. It provides practical exercises which have been prepared by a working teacher and rigorously classroom tested. Within a framework that allows the pupils to be assessed under the National Curriculum Statements of Attainment, it offers opportunities to encourage investigative learning both individually and in groups, to make a change from the textbook, to use flexible teaching styles, to encourage pupils to use a variety of methods to present their work, and for cross-curricular links and theme work. The pack includes photocopiable material and contains ten I Was There photographs together with written and pictorial primary sources, ten investigation cards, and a teacher's guide which includes teaching and cross-curricular ideas, an assessment grid, and bibliography.
