A Bit of Trompe: The Art of Lincoln Taber, 1941-89 by Julian Halsby
Lincoln Taber, an American born in California in 1941, was equally at home in landscape, trompe l'oeil and mural painting. He met Dali in Spain, trained with Nerina Simi in Florence, and worked with Annigoni, before settling in England in 1967. This study examines his work, placing it in the context of late 20th-century academic and trompe l'oeil painting. Nearly 500 works catalogued, 100 illustrated.
