A fresh approach to revealing basic methods to do with block/screen printing, painting and dyeing techniques and leather working activities. Presenting handmade project ideas using clear instruction and beautiful photography. I love the 'stuffies' and the leather items are quite beautiful. The fact of the matter with this book is that it is an excellent guide, but it also allows ones artistic flair to surface. The maker can use the information as a fail safe opportunity to either learn new crafts from scratch, or to set their skills base higher in crafting projects that they may have dabbled in previously. I like it!

This is one book where I don't think the cover does it justice. There is so much packed into it and so many different techniques and methods used. The thing I really love about this book is it takes you through step by step but then gives you a beautiful project to use the techniques in. Each of the projects is fun and takes
you through everything you need to know to make them. The book gives you everything you need to
make exactly what you see. This makes the book so much more amazing. You really can create everything.
The designs are really fantastic and the fact that you can use whatever you learn in the book to make your own
designs. Sometimes you learn new things and that's the end of it. With this book the projects stimulate you
to start designing and making your own projects. The book takes you through each stage and through each new technique. It takes you through anything that might go wrong and how you can stop or fix them. The projects range from the fun and bright to sophisticated and stylish. If you want to expand the way you work with
fabric and other mediums then this book would be brilliant for you. The fact you learn everything from stamping,
printing, dying to painting. You also learn how to sew the projects and everything else you need to know. This is a very informative book with beautiful projects. You will really be amazed at what you can make. Fantastic Book!!

The title might lead you to think that this is a book about fabrics. In a way it is - it's a book about mixed media sewing projects. It's all about making things by hand - stamping, printing, dyeing and painting on cotton and other fabrics. Once you start to work like this, your work takes on a more personal note than can usually be achieved by using commercial fabrics. The book includes painting on fabric, block printing, screen printing, dyeing and working with leather and bias binding tape work. In the Introduction, you'll find all about gathering inspiration, and the processes involved in putting them into practice. The contemporary projects are beautiful. This is a clear, easy-to-use book with great photography and a contemporary feel. My favourite project is the stuffies, little creatures that people of all ages will love. I also love the simplicity of the fish design in the table runner. A fabulous book that I am happy to recommend.
