Desserts and Wines Summary

Desserts and Wines by Lenotre

This evocatively illustrated new book features a brand new, unique, and delicious approach to a relatively unexplored subject - sweet wine and dessert matching. All too often the most indulgent point of any meal is not explored to the full, and the exquisite combinations of the rich and complex aromas and flavours of a dessert wine with the heavenly textures and tastes of a lovingly crafted dessert are missed. This original and beautiful package presents over sixty delightful dessert recipes and over 120 wines. Olivier Poussier introduces and describes a range of perfect partnerships between desserts - based on ingredients such as apple, coffee, chocolate, and spices - and rose, demi-sec, sweet, and sparkling wines, and even liqueurs and eau-de-vic.

About Lenotre

Olivier Poussier is the chief sommelier and head of wine buying for the Lenotre group which he joined in 1988. He was voted best sommelier in France in 1990, the best international wine and spirits sommelier in 1990, and the best sommelier in the world in 2000. He lives in Paris. Lenotre is one of France's most highly regarded gastronomic businesses. The group was started in 1957 by Gaston Lenotre; today they boast nine shops and restaurants in France - eight in Paris and one in Cannes - and thirty-two worldwide - as far afield as Las Vegas and Tokyo. In writing this book, Olivier Poussier worked closely with Philip Gobet who is considered the most prestigious patissier at Lenotre to produce the dessert recipes.
