Anyone can transform ordinary stones into delightful pets, birds and forest animals. There are step-by-step photographs and instructions to accompany each project. Help is given on selecting the right stone for each project, preparing the surface, tracing the designs, painting the colours and adding finishing touches and details.
Lin Wellford comes from a family of artists that includes sculptors, painters and commercial artists. She studied under several instructors before majoring in advertising design at the University of Florida. She has won many awards for her pen-and-ink sketches and watercolours, but since 1978 has concentrated her talents on her Stone Menagerie. Wellford's work has received national media attention and continues to be favoured by animal lovers and art lovers alike. Each piece is unique because no two stones are ever exactly alike. Wellford lives in Arkensas with her husband and three daughters.
