Good Governance in the Middle East Oil Monarchies Summary

Good Governance in the Middle East Oil Monarchies by Martin Hetherington

A significant contribution to existing academic literature

The profile of the Oil Monarchies has been raised lately

Concept of Good Governance is closely related to the globalization process - there is increased speculation about the compatibility of Western and Islamic states

The Oil Monarchies states are among the most significant in the world due to their strategic location and massive oil wealth - little has been written on Good Governance relating to these countries

The book is aimed at a wide audience, including both students and specialists interested in Middle East Politics and development studies, oil economists and a wide range of governmental and NGO bodies

The book is the product of a unique partnership between the Institute of Middle East and Islamic Studies (Durham University) and the FCO
