Kindred Spirits by Mary Hubble
Clare is a 48 year old divorcee who decides to make a fresh start by moving alone from the prosperous South East to a small, rather run-down Midlands town. At first she has difficulty adjusting to her new surroundings but by keeping an open mind, she makes an assortment of friends who draw her into their own often complicated lives. The story is written in the present tense by the main character so the reader is closely involved in her often amusing and sometimes exciting activities. When she eventually meets Keith she thinks she has at last found her true kindred spirit. But has she? Their entertaining dialogue serves to reveal hidden depths in both their natures.
