Matt Hahn has produced a gem of a book that I will recommend to all first-year graduate students in evolutionary genetics. He covers a wide range of topics relevant to practitioners of population genetics, and covers sufficient theory for experimentalists to learn how to think in terms of quantitative models. The figures are beautiful and instructive. The author clearly presents the assumptions of many methods, and the possible consequences of violating those assumptions. The Caveats section at the end of many chapters will be especially useful to students beginning to interact with the literature in a serious way.
