Earthrace has been built to break the official UMI 'Round the World Speed Record by a powerboat. By running on exclusively 100% Biodiesel fuel, and with a net zero carbon footprint, this not-for-profit project aims to promote awareness of the environment and the sustainable use of resources. Pete Bethune takes his crew and the reader on a wave-washed, high-speed ride, at turns magical, exhilarating, overwhelming and gut-wrenching. Along the way there's plenty of action, frustrating inaction, humour and pathos, breakfasts lost, bullets fired, collisions and disasters, detention in foreign lands, death and disappointment. Captain and crew battle the elements, officials, foreign navies, the engine, and their own doubts and frailties.
