Outcome and Innovation in the Psychological Treatment of Schizophrenia by Professor Til Wykes
This text aims to provide an overview of the innovative treatments for schizophrenia, including: cognitive behaviour therapy; family therapy; compliance therapy; and cognitive deficits remediation. It describes how theoretical understanding of some of the psychological factors which maintain symptoms can lead to further advances. Evidence only of efficacy is now not enough to persuade mental health purchasers to invest in a treatment. What is now required is evidence of its cost effectiveness. As well as evaluating cost effectiveness studies, the book describes the pathway to an economic analysis of psychological treatments.
