Super Summary

Super: The Road from Hell by Scott Dixon

The blow-by-blow autobiography of 'Super' Scott Dixon, the great Glaswegian boxer who turned pro in 1995, aged just 19. In 2004, as Dixon prepared for his next title fight, he was brutally attacked and left for dead by unknown assailants. Unable to walk for a year and a half, never mind box competitively, he was resolute in his determination to return - and incredibly regained the WBU super-middleweight title in 2012. Dixon's riveting story transcends boxing, offering honest and haunting commentary on both human frailty and strength of will. We follow Scott through his early boxing success with Toby Dixon - Scott's grandfather and legendary Newarthill trainer - his relationship with the Peacock Gym and the infamous Bowers brothers, and into criminal activities. Only after landing a Hollywood role as Brad Pitt's trainer and body double in the movie, Snatch, came Scott's time spent in jail and psychiatric wards. By virtue of humour, page-turning suspense and Scott's indomitable spirit, the reader remains in the fighter's corner throughout.
