The future always makes me so thirsty Summary

The future always makes me so thirsty: New Poets from the North of Ireland by Sinead Morrissey

Northern Irish poetry has an unrivalled reputation worldwide. Heaney, Longley, Muldoon and, of course, Morrissey herself are just a few of the stellar talents to have emerged from the North.

Blackstaff Press has always been at the forefront of celebrating this rich poetic talent in its landmark anthologies. New Poets from the North of Ireland continues this tradition, bringing together a new generation of poets who have come to prominence in the last decade.

From prize-winning poets such as Miriam Gamble and Stephen Sexton to new voices such as Adam Crothers, Padraig Regan and Emma Must, this anthology shows why another generation of poets from Northern Ireland looks set to dominate the world stage for years to come.

The future always makes me so thirsty Reviews

Book of the Week

Here we have - to mention just a few of the contributors - Adam Crothers's razor-sharp wit, Miriam Gamble's offbeat humour, Manuela Moser's moving lyricism, Paul Maddern's powerful descriptiveness, Padraig Regan's insight and imagination, Andy Eaton's thoughtful observations.

Wide-ranging, colourful, invigorating - this is sure to whet your thirst for poetry.

-- Tara McEvoy

the most impressive aspect of this anthology is how finished the work is as a whole, how high the bar has been set for inclusion, and how many poets the editors have chosen ... this anthology is more substantial than a trailer or an appetizer

-- John McAuliffe
