This versatile resource is designed to provide access to French for pupils with special educational needs. It is flexible and adaptable for a range of classroom activities to suit the varying abilities of special needs pupils. It can be used either in conjunction with the National Curriculum in mainstream schools, or as a the main French resource in special schools. It is written in such a way as to be user-friendly for special school teachers. The material is largely photocopiable and contains: an introduction explaining how to use the resource; and a scheme of work adapted from HANSOW Special - a scheme produced by advisers and teachers in Hampshire, and based on extensive research among SEN teachers in both mainstream and special schools. The material is divided into nine modules, each of which contains around five topics. The modules offer: a brief introduction; a planning sheet for each module to help teachers work towards realistic goals; and a planning sheet for each topic which lists basic vocabulary, the activities and resources to be used, suggested projects, and links with the National Curriculum level descriptions.
