The Dragon Who Had No Fire Summary

The Dragon Who Had No Fire by Vibusha Delamore

Vibusha Delamore lives in New Zealand. She has three sons and is a trained kindergarten teacher and pioneered a Rudolf Steiner kindergarten on Waiheke Island, just off the coast of Auckland. There is a gentle moral to this children's tale that makes the story so rewarding. Hector is a young dragon who is different. He cannot breath fire. You can follow Hector's adventures as he struggles to come to terms with who he is and enjoy the wonderful discovery that he makes. This is a children's book, beautifully illustrated by one of the author Vibusha Delamore's sons, Zephir Delamore, that is going to be an enjoyable experience for adults too. Zephir's illustrations, coloured by Vibusha, hover between cartoon and fairy story and in that lovely balance between the two the character of Hector, his parents and friends (and a surprise at the top of a mountain) come off the page and draw one warmly (in spite of the fact that Hector cannot breath fire!) into a lively imaginal world. The tale is a delight, the pictures come alive; take a step away from the concerns of daily life, bathe in the story of Hector and return refreshed! (And that is just for the adults... young children will love Hector!)
