1937. First Edition Thus. 247 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with gilt lettering. Translated & illustrated by Wanda Gag. Frontispiece detached but present. Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. More pronounced to endpapers, pastedowns and text block edges. Ink scribbling to rear pastedown and free endpaper, and stamp to front free endpaper. Noticeable cracking to hinges, with exposed netting. Binding is weakened. Thumb-marking present. Tears to edges of some pages with text unaffected. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Water staining to boards. Very heavy tearing & fraying to cloth at spine ends. Gilt lettering is dulled.
