Atkinson first came to prominence in Not The Nine O'Clock News and his natural acting ability set him up to achieve huge success as Blackadder in one of the BBC's most popular comedy series. In the 1980s he created Mr Bean with Richard Curtis, the latter going on to write the Mr Bean film.
