Cecilia uses patchwork & quilt-as-you-go techniques To create a beautiful mix of accessories for your daily life. At the start of the book she details the sewing basics including tools and materials and then sew techniques that are used in the book. Although these are supplied I think the book is better for someone who has sewn before. Each pattern contains a list of the materials you will use, what preparation you will need to do and the cutting out. You also get an explanation of the sewing & the finishing off. There are a goof mix of patterns each having it's own unique look. The paper feel of the pages matches the look of the projects and gives it that feeling of home. Tips are included where you need them to give the project a good look. I also love the fact that some of the pieces are small so you can use your scraps to give it a unique style. There are some really cute ideas and they are ideas that can be used for all the family. They would also make fantastic gifts. With 22 projects there is a really good mix and variety of projects. If you like the quilt and patchwork look then you will really love the designs in this book. The designs also give you the opportunity to make them your own as your choice of fabrics will make a huge difference to each design.

This book has lots of pretty gifts (22 in fact) to make, including a mini wallet, pencil case, boxed washbag bag, shoulder bag and book cover amongst others. The projects have the usual zakka style of neutral linen fabrics combined with colourful patchwork. Skills covered in the book include patchwork, quilt as you go, applique and sewing zips. These techniques are covered at the front of the book before you get to the projects. The projects themselves have step by step written instructions and a single photo of the finished item. There are also instructions for the cutting out and any preparation needed before you start plus useful tips scattered throughout. I think most people would find several projects they wanted to make in this book.

I love Zakka. It's colourful and cool, modern and stylish. These easy contemporary sewing projects are great for the home and would make perfect gifts. These gifts turn a house into a home. The 22 easy and quick to make projects come complete with easy to follow instructions and are well photographed. Templates have been provided, some need enlarging. The basics are explained so even beginners will be able to start sewing straight away. The projects are adorable - each and every one and I just LOVE this book. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys contemporary sewing.

Zakka originates from a Japanese word, which loosely translates as 'miscellaneous goods' or 'sundries'. However in the recent years it has increasingly been used to mean homemade everyday items. In this book there are a real mix of designs, each having its own unique look and we love the fact that some of the pieces are small and therefore are a great way to use up your scraps. If you like the quilting and patchwork look then you will love the designs in this book, all of which make perfect presents for your friends and family.
