Kingston-Upon-Hull Summary

Kingston-Upon-Hull: Images of a Rich Transport Heritage by Neville Stead

Over 200 superb black and white photos depicting the rich and varied forms of transport to be seen in Kingston-Upon-Hull during the 20th century. Illustrated are trams, buses, electric trolley buses, steam trains, the docks as they once were, the wonderful paddle steamers that plied the Humber estuary before the bridge was built, the steamships that sailed between Hull's town docks and the Continent plus barges on the River Hull, trawlers, tugs and other support vessels. The bus pictures especially incorporate fascinating views of the city streets before and after destruction by bombing in the second world war. The author also relates his own experiences of the Hull transport scene.
