About Simon Beckett

Born in 1960, Simon Beckett earned an MA in English at university, spent a few years doing property repairs before going to teach English in Spain. Back in the UK, he played percussion in several bands but has worked as a freelance journalist since 1992, writing for the Independent on Sunday Review, The Times, Daily Telegraph, Observer etc. Some of his more notable commissions have included going on police drugs raids, touring brothels with the Met's Vice Unit, spending time at 'The Body Farm' in Tennessee, learning how to win a gun fight (and get sunstroke) in Nevada. He is married and lives in Sheffield.
