Yankee Colors: Glory Years of the Man by Al Silverman
Yankee Colors tells the story of the legendary period during the 1950s and 1960s when New York baseball was supreme. During this time, the New York Yankees were in the World Series almost every year. This glorious period of Yankee history is now the era of baseball history that is the deepest in living memory. This book features many rare and unpublished colour photographs and portraits of Yankee greats such as Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Casey Stengel and Yogi Berra. In addition, unseen images of regular season games, pennant races, World Series competition and Yankee Stadium are included. The photographer, Marvin E. Newman was a close friend of Mantle's and of the team and this intimacy is captured in many of the images and behind-the-scenes moments. Each image is accompanied by deep captions, illuminating the inside history of the team and the players.
