The Museum of Hoaxes Summary

The Museum of Hoaxes: The World's Greatest Hoaxes by Alex Boese

How gullible are human beings? What is it that gives us such delight in hoaxing the gullible? Take for example the April Fool perpetrated by Burger King who advertised they were to produce left-handed hamburgers (they revealed they had rotated the relish by 180 degrees, since you ask) for the 32 million left-handed Americans. They were inundated with eager buyers. And what about the famous BBC TV 'Spaghetti Tree' hoax. Or the occasion in 1996 when, to deafening outrage of newspapers and politicians, Taco Bell announced they had purchased the Liberty Bell and henceforth it would be known as the 'Taco Liberty Bell'. Then let's not pass over the 'miraculous bullet' which an American Civil War doctor insisted passed though the testicles of a soldier then on into the abdomen of a woman behind the lines who subsequently gave birth. And how about the furry trout, the antlered rabbit, and corn cobs the size of fully grown oak trees...These and many more hoaxes are recounted in this 640 page, leather bound, limited edition volume.
