Why, oh why, am I a crocodile? Reviews

This book is EVERTHING and I wish there was a 10 star option! It's funny, written in well-flowing rhyme, has wonderful illustrations and, most importantly the messages in it are just gorgeous: accept yourself, appreciate what you have, understand that we all have differences, and share your concerns and worries. Loved it and know that all kids will too!----------A beautifully written book with amazing illustration. The story is just lovely and with a very important message for children. My daughter always brings it to me and says my favourite book mummy so would highly recommend to any parents out there.-------- Bought two of these books, as a gift for the Reception class I work in, and had great pleasure in reading to them. The colours and illustrations are beautiful and the story kept them captivated!!----------I adore this book. It is so very well written and has a really powerful message underpinning it. I read it to my children and they immediately loved the characters and had lots of questions about the story. Thank you for a really amazing read. We will be reading this for years to come. ---------- What a lovely book! As a parent of 2 year old twins and a teacher of young children, I am on the lookout for fun, eye catching books that will hold their attention for more than a few sentences - and this book does just that. The illustrations are beautiful and the rhyming story is fun to read. What's more this book touches upon the serious lesson of self love and appreciating what you have. It offers such an easy and light hearted way into these topics that I have chosen to introduce this book to my pupils too. Lovely ------------- We really enjoyed Why oh Why am I a Crocodile. My wife is a primary school teacher so obviously sees plenty of children's books and she was very complimentary of all aspects of the book. The message is wholesome too. The kids love it. It's also really funny. I love the image of the lion trying not to be scary! This book takes pride of place on the kid's book shelf.-------------- A beautiful written book with amazing illustration. About Alex Brooks

Alex is a mum of 3 to Gus, 5 and twins Teddy and Lola, 3.------------ Alex worked with children for several years in her late teens/early 20's, which fed her imagination and led her to write her first children's book: Ant and Feather (not published.... YET!). Whilst sitting by the pool, at her parent's home in Spain, she watched an ant carrying a feather. The next thing she knew, she was at a computer typing away. When she returned, sometime later, she read the story to her parents. Although a little surprised by Alex's latest venture (there's been a few!), they were really quite impressed.-------------- At the age of 22, Alex moved to Peckham to carry out her childhood dream of becoming a London Firefighter. When she wasn't running into burning buildings (or rescuing cats from trees), she would be sat at a desk, writing weird and wonderful children's stories (she never did quite fit in at the station!).------------- After 5 years, Alex decided to leave the fire service and became an estate agent (suddenly people became less interested in discussing her line of work). This is where she met her husband, Bob. They had their first child Gus, moved back to Alex's hometown of Tunbridge Wells and 22 months later they saw the arrival of twins Teddy and Lola (3 under 2). --------- Not one for an easy life, Alex set up a property company. This gives her the freedom to stay at home with the kids and also pursue her writing career.---------- Alex recently got back in contact with an old friend of hers, Hannah. Impressed by Hannah's work, Alex asked her to illustrate one of her books: Why, oh why, am I a crocodile?. She's loved working with Hannah and loves what they have created. Hopefully this is the first of many, many more... watch this space!
