The fragrance and flavour of thyme evokes the sun-drenched landscapes of Provence, with the fragile blue saladelle, or sea lavender, being the emblem of the Camargue's famous herdsmen. The author has travelled for many years in this area, in the country between Greater and Lesser Rhone, inspiration to writers, artists, poets and naturalists from its Roman monuments and stunning landscapes, to its white horses, black bulls and flamingoes. Every facet of the country's past, present and tradition is met here, illustrated by the author's own drawings.
