Summary

Alternating between 1958 and 2008, and featuring the same three people, forever thirty-something, living similar but radically different lives, this play examines changing attitudes to sexuality over a period of 50 years.

The Pride Summary

The Pride by Alexi Kaye Campbell

An incredibly bold and mature first play, reminiscent of Noel Coward's Design For Living and Kevin Elyot's My Night With Reg, The Pride will spark painful twinges of recognition in all of us. Frequently dark and troubling, the play offers magnificent roles for its three main characters. It premieres at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs on 21 November 2008 directed by Jamie Lloyd, fresh from his West End success with the Pinter double-bill, The Collection and The Lover. Alexi Kaye Campbell is the longtime partner of the Director of the Royal Court, Dominic Cooke, so he submitted the play anonymously. It was selected for production before anyone knew the identity of the author.
